LAST CHANCE TO BRING 3% PROJECT TO YOUR SCHOOL

Due to overwhelming demand from schools, 3% Project is proud to announce the addition of a second and final date to participate in our free, school-wide 3% Virtual Assembly between Tuesday, October 22nd and Thursday, October 24th.

Teachers can choose to join on the day and time that best fits their schedule. 3% Virtual Assembly helps teachers bring our educational program on sustainability, technology, and employable skills into their grade 9-12 classrooms one last time.

3% Virtual Assembly provides youth-friendly, holistic education on climate solutions in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, exploring the changing relationship between humans, nature, machines, and biology.

In the Assembly, we begin with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework for the future we want. Steve Lee, Executive Director of 3% Project, presents two systemic challenges to achieving that kind of future. The first one is the rise of exponential technologies, or the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”, and the second set of challenges is climate change. We explore both challenges.

3% Virtual Assembly is followed by an ongoing mentorship program led by climate educators who teach employable skills to students.

Join us on our final tour and bring 3% Project to your school!

FAQs

How does my school participate in the virtual assembly?

You can register here. Please note that 3% Virtual Assembly is booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

3% Virtual Assembly is a school-wide event that usually requires a principal or an administrator’s approval. We communicate by email and phone with principals and administrators to provide them with more information and to confirm their registration. After registering, principals will receive an email with the website link to watch the 3% Virtual Assembly. The principal will forward the email with the 3% Virtual Assembly link to all teachers. Teachers will open the link on the day of the 3% Virtual Assembly, enter their class and school information, and be directed to the live video player.

The assembly is particularly for grade 9-12, although we’ve found students as young as grade 6 appreciate the presentation.

What are the requirements for watching the 3% Virtual Assembly?

Watching the 3% Virtual Assembly is like watching a YouTube video. You will need a projector and speakers. If your school Internet speed is slow, video resolution quality is poor; if your school Internet speed is fast enough, video resolution quality is good. (4 Mbps is good enough!)

What do you teach in the assembly?

3% Project provides youth-friendly education on climate solutions in the holistic context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution themed: “The Future We Want.” Learn more by watching our 7-minute video here.

Why a virtual assembly?

Due to overwhelming demand for the program on our last tour this semester, we organized 3% Virtual Assembly to offer a larger number and variety of schools the last chance to bring 3% Project into their classrooms.

It is the same exact presentation we do in-person, with the added benefits of flexible viewing time and location. 3% Virtual Assembly is broadcast online and is available for viewing the whole day. This lets teachers pick the times they want to view the presentation in different classes, or at a specific time at a school-wide assembly.

How long is 3% Virtual Assembly?

3% Virtual Assembly is an hour long.

Is your program free?

There is no cost to the program to public schools. We are a registered charity and we’ve worked for two years on fundraising to make this program accessible to all schools across Canada, although we always welcome donations! We’re very grateful to our partners whose generous gifts have made 3% Project accessible.
